Southbank Lawn Tennis Club is a small family-orientated tennis club in Southport, which consists of five artificial grass courts and a club house situated on the Holy Trinity Sports Ground – known as the Rookery – which is shared with football and cricket teams.

In 2016, the club celebrated the 120th anniversary of its formation, with membership figures standing at 69 ahead of Exclusive Leisure Limited working with the club in the installation of floodlighting on the two main courts; something that the club had been working towards for a number of years and achieved thanks to the assistance of an LTA loan, which was approved in October 2016.

Since the installation of floodlighting at Southbank Lawn Tennis Club, membership numbers have increased, court usage is on the up and the visual impact it has had upon the Holy Trinity Sports Ground has been described as ‘stunning’. As a result of the floodlight installation, the club has now extended its midweek coaching sessions throughout the winter months.

Installation commenced in mid-August 2016, so that the groundwork could be completed ahead of the nearby football team’s season getting underway. The columns and lights were erected over the course of four days, with electricians completing the work in early September.

Nigel Wickham, Match Secretary at Southbank Lawn Tennis Club, was full of praise for the work of Exclusive Leisure Limited.
